Carl P. Irby, BS, RN, BSN

Chairman of the Board

(951) 640-4506

As a 30+ year friend of Dr. Lindsay Thomas, he shared with me through the years the mission he was pursuing and the work he was doing on the African continent. I was impressed with his zeal and integrity, and began donating to ABOKIN Inc. In addition to sponsoring several workers in both Kenya and Ghana, I also travelled with Dr. Lindsay Thomas to Kenya to help train Local Elders. I also assisted Dr. Lindsay Thomas in gathering materials and in curriculum development for some of the trainings he was envisioning to support the African workers. In 2014, Dr. Lindsay Thomas asked me to become a Board member for his newly organized ABOKIN Inc. Board. In early 2015, he asked me to Chair the Board, and I have been serving in that capacity ever since. The Board is committed to the original mission of ABOKIN Inc. and has been working diligently and tirelessly to further the ministry. Professionally, I am a Health Educator and a Registered Nurse. As a Health Educator working for a Community-Based Organization and later for a County Health Department, I devoted over 26 years to educating and training people, including health professionals, government officials, and educators. By pursuing excellence and success, I distinguished myself as a local, statewide, and national leader in health education with speaking and training invitations from each level. I have taught in a local college for the last 16 years. All of these educational and work experiences are applicable to the ministry of ABOKIN. Through work I’ve learned to educate, train, inspire, motivate, assess, evaluate, care for, lead, organize, and relate to diverse people. In addition, as a Seventh Day Adventist, I have held many leadership positions in the local church, including being Head Elder at two churches. I have also served on Committees and Constituent Groups for the Local Conference and the Union Conference. I understand Church Governance and Ministry Development. I am happy I said yes to Dr. Lindsay Thomas, and I invite you to become a part of this ministry also. This website offers many ways you can support this mission. Please explore how you too can participate in this valuable work. Thank You.
"The Board is committed to the original mission of ABOKIN Inc. and has been working diligently and tirelessly to further the ministry".

Giles McGill

President

(773) 484-5574

Giles McGill, became acquainted with ABOKIN Inc. and its founder, the late Dr. Lindsay Thomas, Jr., through his wife, Burnadette Roberts, M.D., who had a lifelong passion for missions. Together, they were able to join him in Kenya in September, 2013, where he conducted a training seminar for lay workers. They assisted him with distribution of clothing to the workers, and food to widows and orphans. In February, 2014, Giles McGill and Pastor Frank Williams of Houston, TX had the privilege of accompanying Dr. Lindsay Thomas on what would be his last missionary journey to Africa. There, in Ghana, they trained lay workers and distributed food to orphans and widows. Despite many obstacles God has really blessed the efforts of the newly trained lay workers to win new converts to the Lord helping to grow the church in that area. Giles, a trained chemist, and businessman, has worked over 30 years in his field, and in business management, in the food, cosmetic, and home accessories industries, both nationally, and internationally. He has a love for evangelism, and is excited to be able to help spread the gospel during these last days, in Africa and wherever God leads. He is fully committed, with God's help, to continue the mission of ABOKIN Inc. "to enhance spiritual, health, and educational well being in East and West Africa.

Nancy (Washington) Irby, RN, BSN, PHN

Board Member

Nancy (Washington) Irby is serving on the ABOKIN Inc. BOARD at the request of Dr. Lindsay Thomas. She first became acquainted with Dr. Lindsay Thomas in 1987 when her parents, Dr. James and Sarah Washington, decided to serve as Missionaries in Nairobi, Kenya where her father served as Treasurer of the East African Union of Seventh Day Adventist. Dr. Lindsay Thomas took it upon himself to make sure her parents were oriented before their departure. Once Nancy learned about Dr. Lindsay Thomas' organization, ABOKIN Inc., she had a desire to contribute. So in 2006 the Lord put a burden on her heart to donate. Life happened and the donation was delayed. When she finally took it upon herself to finally give the donation, to her surprise Dr. Lindsay Thomas was in tears. He said he had promised to hire a large number of workers and didn't know how he was going to fund them for 6 months. The donation she and her husband made covered their salaries to the penny with some change left over. From then on they have been faithful donors having seen that God was blessing Dr. Thomas and ABOKIN Inc. Dr. Lindsay Thomas asked her to serve on the board and she accepted with the commitment to carry on his vision with God's help to prayerfully train and support the Lay Workers. She is a Nursing graduate from Pacific Union College and has been employed as a Registered Nurse for over 32 plus years in various capacities. She’s a lifelong Seventh Day Adventist Christian married to Carl Irby with 2 lovely young adult sons.
